Host a New Scots Holiday

In 2018-2020 we were part of a pilot project to launch a holiday hosting project (New Scots Holidays). This was developed in partnership with the Scottish Refugee Council and part-funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

The refugee holiday programme allowed members of receiving communities to welcome refugees in their homes for short breaks, offering a space for rest and recreation. It will create opportunities to build friendships across cultures and allow refugees to learn more about life in Scotland beyond their home neighbourhood. New Scots Holidays also aims to underline the dignity of refugees who have not only come here to seek safety, but also to lead fulfilling lives and enjoy the same opportunities as the community to which they now belong.

From this experience we developed the New Scots Holiday Handbook, a toolkit for any faith groups interested in hosting New Scots for a short break. While the pilot project has now finished, we would love to offer whatever support and advice we can to help you to offer this opportunity to New Scots.
